Eco-Therapy: A Wish for Spring

As we enter into Spring in Colorado, I have been in awe of all of the sounds, sights, and smells that signal a re-awakening of much of the natural world, including humans. This feels especially important in the midst of a very difficult political climate and challenges that many people and beings are experiencing right now. As I center in with an Eco-Therapy lens, I feel drawn to send a wish to you and the planet and the well-being of all as we enter Spring.

May we notice the birdsong and the way that the birds welcome each morning, a new day full of possibility even in the unknown.

May we notice the blooming flowers and the buds on trees, even in the midst of wind and snow, and see them as remembrance that beauty, newness, and hope are all possible even in cold and ever-changing conditions. May we treasure the plants all around us and pay extra care towards honoring and preserving their well-being as they support and preserve ours.

May we notice the changes in daily weather, some days full of sunshine and others with rain and snow, and note that we can shift and change in this season as well, we are able to adapt and we are able to be open to new possibilities.

May we notice the longer days and the ways we may yearn to be outdoors, to soak up a walk in the sunshine, to revel at the beauty of a budding landscape. May we allow ourselves to be drawn towards other natural beings and to spend time noticing our connection to the rest of the natural world.

May Spring be an invitation, to notice, to pause, to hold both challenge and beauty simultaneously, to recognize our capacities to grow and bloom in new ways that we may not even know are possible yet. May Spring be an invitation to recognize the immense beauty of the Earth and all the beings who are here and to treasure each other’s existence, to support one another.
